This month, Social Justice Consultants, LLC will celebrate its first anniversary. I am excited about the changes and opportunities in the upcoming year. Our website will change over the next few weeks reflecting the new initiatives for 2010-2011.
The foundation of the company is based on social justice education and multiple dimensions of identity. Both theoretical concepts call for understanding of systems and individuals in creating more inclusive and diverse environments. We have to find the space in our society, community, organization, work, and family to engage and involve voices that have been silent for too long. Every day we must break down the systems of oppression that excluded and devalue the voices of all communities. It is within this framework that Social Justice Consultants, LLC offers its expertise.
As CEO & Founder, I take pride in sharing my 19+ years of experience in addressing social justice issues. I have also identified an excellent team of consultants from across the United States to collaborate and assist SJCLLC in its efforts to affect social justice change in this country. The team of consultants brings a wide range of experience in business, higher education, nonprofits, and advocacy which will be an asset to our clients.
In the last year, we have witnessed the United States in transition and the reality that we still struggle with issues of race, gender, sexual identity, class, ability, national origin, spirituality, and the many of the unique characteristic as Americans. Proposition 8 in California, the arrest of Professor Henry Gates, Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s Supreme Court Justice Hearing, Health Care Reform, Don’t Ask – Don’t Tell Policy, High HIV Rates, Bullying in Schools, and the Election of President Barak Obama are just some of the recent examples that demonstrate more dialogue is needed around social justice. SJCLLC is here to help engage this dialogue and consult with clients in an effort to create more inclusive and affirming environments.
