Cameron T. Whitley - Consultant - Lansing, MI

Cameron is a transgender theorist, author, editor, grassroots organizer, and academic. He has been involved in grassroots organizing, non-profit development, and strategic planning since 1999. As a transgender man, Cameron has focused much of his career on the education and implementation of transgender inclusive policies and practices. This includes reaching out to higher education institutions, health care facilities, religious/spiritual communities, corporations and within gay, lesbian and bisexual (GLB) organizations.

Currently, Cameron is a Doctoral student in the field of Sociology. His research interests revolve around the intersections of identity, medical sociology and environmental Issues in relation to economic development and the accessibility of resources. Cameron is the author of “Too Sensitive? Exploring Trans-Masculine Femininity,” featured in Femmethology, and “My Femme” to be featured in Gendered Hearts. He is currently working on a book entitled, Trans-Kinfolk: An Anthology of 'Think-alouds' from Significant Others, Family Members, Friends and Allies (SOFFAs) of Transgender Persons, addressing the identity processes of SOFFAs as related to their transgender and/or gender variant loved one.  

Cameron is also actively involved with Sanctuary Collective as a Support Team Member. Sanctuary Collective is an organization dedicated to the inclusion and acceptance of LGBTQ individuals in Christian communities.

Prior to graduate school, Cameron held a position as a Deputy Chief Financial Officer in New York City and served as a Youth Outreach Coordinator dedicated to HIV/AIDS prevention and education in the Virgin Islands.
