As someone who is committed to social change, I believe that we all live in cycles and patterns based on social rewards. It is not until we see and create different patterns that we begin to change. Thus, I truly believe in providing quality space and opportunities to learn and grow.
As an undergraduate I began speaking out against issues of difference because I was able to see and identify the ways in which people were not being treating fairly. Finding ones voice at a young age can be challenging, but very fruitful in regards to understanding one's self and purpose in life.
With that said, I bring several years of diversity and advocacy work both in higher education and beyond. My experience with issues of difference ranges from teaching, to training, conducting research, lectures and speaking engagements. My general focus areas are: gender, race, sexuality, HIV/AIDS, and healthy sexual practices.
My areas of research include the above as well as: college choice, educational attainment, black college student experience, black male college student experience, and college adjustment (first and second year college student experience).
