Trent Norman has been working professionally in college and university settings since 1993 in positions of progressive responsibility and challenge. Trent is the co-director of the Interactive Theatre project at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Trent received his bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Theatre from Fort Lewis College, acting and directing as main stage and student run performances. Trent’s graduate work in social psychology is a nice compliment to his social justice focus as a professional.
Trent worked as a Residence Hall Director at Fort Lewis College for two years before he came to the University of Colorado in 1995 as a Hall Director. After 4 years, he was recruited by the Director of Housing to be the coordinating professional for diversity, multiculturalism and social justice efforts within the department, ultimately culminating as the chief social justice/diversity professional for the department of housing & dining services.
Trent has participated in the social justice training institute as a participant and intern. Trent is a certified trainer with NCBI (National Coalition Building Institute); NCORE (National Conference on Race And Ethnicity in American Higher Education) in Social Justice Education Theory (in conjunction with the University of Massachusetts – Amherst), diversity training and teaching social class – training of trainers; NMCI (National MultiCultural Institute) training of trainers.
Trent co-created the Interactive Theatre Project @ the University of Colorado. Trent was a founder of the BSO (Black Students Organization), UCAP (United Coalition Against Prejudice) and the Existential Sneeches (Student run Theatre Troupe Durango 1991 – 1993) @ Fort Lewis College. Trent is a professional photographer.
